My name is Bernie Charland. I’m a globe-trotting Canadian with over twenty-five years of experience in communications spanning many settings – corporate, agency, politics, government, trade associations and even non-profit (bids for World Fair and Olympic games.) Over the years, I’ve worked in (and in some cases specialized in) a number of areas including: employee communications, government relations, public affairs, internal branding, executive communication, media relations and (most recently) digital media…or Web 2.0 consulting.
In terms of making a living, I have my own consulting agency - thinktwice communications. In that role, I provide communications counsel and support to a wide range of companies and organizations. Previously, I led internal communications at Iron Mountain, based in Boston, where I developed and implemented an ambitious new strategy that included CEO communications and social media elements – such as an enterprise blog and dynamic new intranet platform. Previous to that, I was responsible for strategic planning in the corporate communications function at Dell – with a strong focus on social media - and led Dell’s global internal communications team for roughly two years. For additional information on my background please refer to my LinkedIn page.
To be transparent, I’ll make it clear when I have existing or previous relationships with any organizations or people referenced in my posts. I should add that some of my posts may also appear on Evviva Brand‘s blog. In addition to my role at thinktwice, I am also a partner and head of the communication practice for Evviva Brands.

Bernie, you’re a great asset to CCM! Hope you continue your membership (www.ccmconnection.com). E-mail me if you have any questions or comments. (I’m the CCM membership chair this year, in the interest of full disclosure.)
