My name is Bernie Charland. I’m a globe-trotting Canadian with almost twenty years of experience in communications spanning many settings - corporate, agency, politics, government, trade associations and even non-profit (bids for World Fair and Olympic games.)  Over the years, I’ve worked in (and in some cases specialized in) a number of areas including: employee communications, government relations, public affairs, internal branding, executive communication, media relations and (most recently) digital media. In terms of making a living, I lead the internal communications function at Iron Mountain, based in Boston. Previously, I was responsible for strategic planning in the corporate communications function at Dell - with a strong focus on social media - and managed Dell’s global internal communications function. I’ll stop there. (My disclaimer - this blog reflects my personal views and does not in any way represent the views of Iron Mountain or its employees. To be transparent, I’ll also make it clear when I have existing relationships with organizations or people referenced in my posts.)
