My name is Bernie Charland. I’m a globe-trotting Canadian with over twenty-five years of experience in communications spanning many settings – corporate, agency, politics, government, trade associations and even non-profit (bids for World Fair and Olympic games.) Over the years, I’ve worked in a number of communication disciplines including: employee communications, government relations, public affairs, internal branding, executive communication, media relations and (most recently) social media consulting.
In terms of making a living, I have my own consulting agency – thinktwice communications. In that role, I provide communications counsel and support to a wide range of companies and organizations. Previously, I led internal communications at Iron Mountain, based in Boston, where I developed and implemented an ambitious new strategy that included CEO communications and social media elements – such as an enterprise blog and dynamic new intranet platform. Previous to that, I was responsible for strategic planning in the corporate communications function at Dell – with a strong focus on social media – and led Dell’s global internal communications team for two years. For additional information on my background please refer to my LinkedIn page.
To be transparent, I’ll make it clear when I have existing or previous relationships with any organizations or people referenced in my posts.
